BrewCrew 09 RHL Champs. click to enlargeIce Hockey in Aspen is serious business.

The Aspen Brew Crew brought home their 4th straight Rec B Hockey League (RHL) Championship with a tense, hard fought 4-1 victory over chief rival, Team USA.  Da CREW, after getting smoked by USA in game 1 (of a best two out of three playoff format), showed their championship resolve by capturing the final two games in convincing fashion.

"Our goalie, Geoff Lubin stood on his head, he's the MVP" explained Crew Captain Ryan Johnson #18.  Lubin #1, who is a free agent next year, enjoyed the victory celebration to excess.  "Yup, they tested us, USA was strong,  but we've been there before---and it showed through", Lubin commented.

Party ON! click to enlarge.Exceptional goal tending and strong D was the Brew Daddy's signature all season.  Brian #20, Ryan#18 Richie P #48. Donny "4 for roughing" Buck #56 and key free-agent aquistion Hugh Burrows #37 formed a stalwart force along the blue line.  Timely scoring came from every angle. Wingers:  Rudy#31 Dan#24 Jason#22 Kate#69 Gerry#10 Kurt#99 and rookie sensation Blades Williamson#27 lit the lamp all season.  Center ice-men Andy-Party#9  and super-speedy rookie phenom Billy "big wave" Boyd#6 led a furious fore-check that resulted in many biscuits in the basket.  "It was a true team effort" explained classy veteran Richie "The Rocket" Pearlstone. General Manager Daniel Lauer gave a quick "no comment" about the status of next years roster.

In typical Brew Crew fashion, an impromptu, but raging celebration took place late into the night at Crystal Palace Grill.  Copious amounts of alcohol and prescription drugs were consumed @ CPG.  Chef Brad Smith assessed the damage; "when the Motrin (800mg) ran out, they finally got the heck outta here".   The Crew was not finished, however, as the after-party continued with a free Jes Grew poor people's show in Aspen.  Dehydrated, buzzed and still wearing his trade-mark breathe-right strip at 3am, Andy-Party spoke on behalf of the entire BREW CREW team-- (from the back seat of a police cruiser). "We skated, we sweated, we won, we partied our a$$es off", he drooled.
